This year, 2022, the birthday of the Amersfoort-born artist Piet Mondriaan (1872 - 1944) will be commemorated. The composer Johan de Meij has composed a sensational homage to Mondriaan for baritone saxophone and wind band. With an overwhelming light and set design by Rob Hauser and world's best wind band the Marine Band of the Royal Navy, under the inspiring leadership of Major Arjan Tien, I have the honor of being the soloist on my beloved baritone saxophone. An evening full of premières; Mondriaan, as a soloist with the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, and this all in Amersfoort. (NL) Dit jaar, 2022, wordt de geboortedag van de in Amersfoort geboren kunstenaar Piet Mondriaan (1872 - 1944) herdacht. De componist Johan de Meij heeft de sensationele homage aan Mondriaan gecomponeerd voor baritonsaxofoon en harmonieorkest. Met een overweldigend licht-en decorontwerp van Rob Hauser en werelds beste harmonieorkest de Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine, onder de bezielende leiding van Majoor Arjan Tien, heb ik de eer om op mijn geliefde baritonsaxofoon de solist te zijn in “Mondriaan” Een première avond; Mondriaan, als solist met de Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine, en…in Amersfoort. |

The connection between the Amsterdam Saxophone Quartet and the city of Aveiro began in 1991, with an invitation from saxophonist and educator Fernando Valente to the Quartet. From then until 2009, they included Aveiro in their numerous international tours, marked by the love and enthusiasm they felt for their community. Now, after more than a decade, the new Amsterdam Saxophone Quartet returns to the stage in a unique and exclusive concert in Aveiro. Duke Ellington "It don’t mean a thing if it aint got that swing’ Will be joining to the Amsterdam Saxophone Quartet, Saxophonist Guido de Flavis, the percussionist Helvio Mendes and Lindy Hop dancers from the Hop dance Studio.
